Collection Summary: Transcripts of interviews conducted by Volkersz as well as conversations and recordings of Volkersz reading his notes and articles on visionary and naive artists, 1975-1985.

Interviewees include Minnie Black, William (Ned) Cartledge, Jim Colclough, Howard Finster, Paul Galloway (re his father Ed Galloway), Ed Holman (also re Ed Galloway), Carlton Elonzo Garrett, Emil Gehrke, Robert Gilkerson, Dilmus Hall, Irene Hall, Jesse Howard, Hans Jorgensen, C.P. Ligon, Eddie Owns Martin (St. EOM), John Martin, Columbus McGriff, R. A. Miller, Dow Pugh, Herman Rusch, Fred Smith, Mary T. Smith, Robert E. Smith, Jim Suddouth, Mose Tolliver, and Ruth Ellsworth (re her grandfather Oliver Edward Walls). Also included are recordings of Volkersz reading articles on Chief Rolling Mountain Thunder, Charlie ("Creek Charlie") Fields, and Anna and Wayne Woelfer, and notes on conversations with Ray Ward about his father Benjamin Oscar Ward and with Willard Watson.

Recordings donated 1986 by Volkersz, who made them primarily for his own use as a researcher, collector and teacher of folk art. They were transcribed 1989 for the Archives of American Art by Toni Reineke.
