Scrapbook compiled by Matilda Gay primarily contains correspondence in the form of letters, telegrams and calling cards. Many of the letters are congratulating Walter Gay on his promotion as an Officer of the Legion of Honor. Letters are addressed to either Walter or Matilda (sometimes called "Tilly"), and some are letters from husband to wife or vice versa.
Notable correspondents include Edith Wharton, Sarah Cooper Hewitt, and Henry James. A large number of letters are from Louisa Wadsworth, and several letters from Matilda Gay to Louisa Wadsworth are also included.
Also contains a few press clippings; exhibit catalogs, one from Gay's exhibit at Galeries Georges Petit in Paris (1908, Apr. 1-15) and one from An exhibition of paintings and watercolors by Walter Gay at the Galleries of E. Gimpel & Wildenstein in New York (1913); and photos, some of the Paris exhibit, and some of the Gays' house on Rue Ampère, both exterior and interior showing Walter Gay's studio.
