    Description: George Bellows and the Monhegan Cornet band in front of the Monhegan Schoolhouse. Bellows, a visitor along with other artists to Monhegan Island artists' colony, participated in the Monhegan Cornet band celebrating the tercentenary of the landing of Capt. John Smith, on Monhegan in 1914. Bellows, along with other artists contributed paintings to be on exhibit for this event.
    Photographed in the band are, from left to right, (back row) Ellsworth Wallace, Earl Field, Linwood Davis, Charles Field, Walter Brackett, George Smith, Eddie Brackett, Dexter Richards, Dick Stanley, (front row) George Bellows, Ulysses "UTE" Wallace, the band's founder, Will Stanley, George Green, and Otis Thompson.
    Judge Charles Jenney, Monhegan historian, is photographed standing in the background.
    Provenance: Purchased 2006 from Maine Antiques via Janine Hansen, who purchased the photograph at a church rummage sale. The photograph was donated to the church by a descendent of Linwood Davis.
