Identification on accompanying label (typewritten): Lillian Shaw, sculptor, excels in painting, a delicate process of treating plaster figures so that they resemble bronze, terra cotta and other permanent mediums. She went, on scholarships, to the Art Students League, the Leonardo Da Vinci School, and the American Artists School. In the photo she is shown painting a figure by Richard Barthe, fellow artist on the WPA Federal Art Project. |
