    Identification on verso (typewritten): Marine Artist --- It was a cinch Pfc. Roland G. James would succumb to those TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE signboards eventually, even if we had not gone to war. A combat artist in a famous Marine division, he once made a 320 mile bicyle [sic] trip from Philadelphia to Syracuse in 3? days. An alumnus of the University of Syracuse, N.Y., he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. James of 1200 Knox Road, Wynnewood, PA. At college he held the Section I wrestling championship of Pennsylvania in 1941. His wife, Mrs. Roland G. James, lives at Wynnewood, Pa. He enlisted in 1943 and has been overseas 6 months at a base in the South Pacific.
