Biographical/Historical Note: Community Art Center, Sacramento, Calif. Established May 1938 by the Federal Art Project art education division. Was the first such center to be co-sponsored and funded by the FAP in California.

The lender, John B. Mathew, was an art instructor at Sacramento Junior College and was the secretary of the Sponsoring Committee for the Sacramento Art Center.
