Collection Summary: A daily journal covering the last ten years of Ruben Peale's life. Much of it concerns farm and family activities, but there are also many references to his still-life painting. Entries from April 1865 describe the news of Abraham Lincoln's assassination and funeral procession.
Biographical/Historical Note: Still life and animal painter, museum administrator. Son of Charles Willson Peale.
Donated 1959 by Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence A. Fleischman.
