Biographical/Historical Note: Sherwood Bain is a stockbroker and amateur art historian residing in Boston. Scott Leighton (full name Nicholas Winfield Leighton) was an animal painter who first worked in Portland, Maine, and periodically worked with Currier & Ives after his move to Boston in 1875.
