Sample speaks of his studies with Jonas Lie and Stanton MacDonald-Wright; teaching at the University of Southern California and at Dartmouth College; working on frescos with David Alfaro Siqueiros in California; working on murals for the Treasury Department's art project;
exhibitions in New York galleries; his series of paintings for the American Tobacco Company. He discusses his subject matter.
