    An interview of Stephen Morgan Etnier conducted by Robert Brown for the Archives of American Art. Etnier speaks of his youth and education, his motivations for becoming a painter, his travels in South America and the Caribbean, and his years at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He discusses getting established in galleries and the subject matter in his paintings. He recalls John Carroll, Rockwell Kent and N.C. Wyeth.

    This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and others.
