Collection Summary: The papers record activities of the Nuttings during their time in Europe in the 1920s where they knew James and Nora Joyce. Included are: correspondence; diaries (11 vols.), 1956-1972; 825 sketches and drawings by Myron; 61 sketchbooks; 130 photographs of the Nuttings, of their studio, and of Myron's work; 5 photograph albums; a 1936 calendar; 2 notebooks, and a scrapbook, 1916-1919.

Biographical/Historical Note: Painter, mural painter, drawing specialist, educator, and lecturer; born in 1890, died in 1972. Attended Museum Fine Arts School, Boston, the Art Students League. Studied under Maurice Denis and Henri Lhote. Married Muriel Leone Tyler.

The donor, Ruth Tyler Ludlow, is a relative of Muriel Tyler Nutting.
