Collection Summary: Color transparencies depicting the construction of the presidential portraits atop Mt. Rushmore executed from 1927-1941. The photographer is unknown. Several show the sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, at work on the project.

Biographical/Historical Note: Michael De Vivo is a collector from Bedford Hills, N.Y.

Donated 1988 by Michael De Vivo, who received the transparencies from the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency in New York. It is unclear if any of these photographs were used in an advertisement.
