Collection Summary: Photos of art students at the St Paul School of Fine Arts' summer classes, Mendota, Minn. Pictured in some or all are: Minnie K. Bailey, Zella Newcomb Bohm, Helen Brack, Ella Nabersbery Byard, Maud K. Clum, Verna Ayer Okerberg, Antoinette DeForest Parsons and Edith Kendrick Sanders. Teacher Burt Harwood is also pictured in two photographs, one a formal portrait and one showing him planing a plank of wood. Several photos have Ink stamp on reverse: "St. Paul News." Most of the photographs have labels with descriptive information on reverse.

Biographical/Historical Note: St. Paul School of Fine Arts, St. Paul, Minnestota, existed ca. 1900. Burt Harwood ran the school and taught classes. Summer classes were held in Mendota, Minn.

Donated 1960 by Miriam L. Lesley, whose relationship to the School is unclear. Assistance in identifying the photographs was provided by the Minnesota Historical Society. Microfilmed 1973 with Photographs of Artists Collection I and scanned in 2003.
