Collection Summary: Personal and professional letters, journals, lecture files, institutional and organizational files, exhibition files, artwork, and financial material relating to the career of Saylan as an artist, teacher, and influential member of the art community in California. Letters to Saylan are from artists and members of the art community including Kay Sekimachi, Forrest Merrill, Ulrich Scriba, Bert Marsh, Mike Darlow, Joanne Rapp as well as family members. Artwork includes drawings, sketchbooks, loose sketches and designs, including some that are oversized.
Biographical/Historical Note: Merryll Saylan (1936- ) is a wood artist and teacher working in San Rafael, Calif.
The papers were donated in 2008 by Merryll Saylan.
