107 letters to and from a variety of artists, art administrators, historians, and art-related organizations. Also included is a small amount of printed material with a few letters. Correspondents include Joseph Lemuel Chester, Frederic Edwin Church, Joseph Foxcroft Cole, Kate Fields, Daniel Chester French, Edward Gay, Karl Gerhardt, Horatio Greenough, John Frederick Kensett, Benson J. Lossing, Samuel F.B. Morse, James Craig Nicoll, Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Count Luigi Palma di Cesnola, Rubens Peale, John, Emily and William Sartain, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Abbott Handerson Thayer, art critic Henry T. Tuckerman, Stanford White, Worthington Whittredge, and others.

Also included are an invitation from the New York School of Applied Design for Women to Marie Shields Myer, 1912; one fragment of a letter written by Wallace Nutting, 1938; a draft of a speech by Kenyon Cox, undated; and a typed envelope, undated, addressed to Robert Sliger.
