Collection Summary: 12 letters to Hatt, 1956-1965 and undated, mostly thank-you's, award notices, and personal; 48 clippings; 28 catalogs and announcements; 265 photographs, mostly of Hatt's work, and a few of Hatt; 2 scrapbooks, ca. 1946-1962, containing 110 items, and 1 ca. 1944-1948, containing 70 items (mostly photographs of her work); 25 miscellaneous items.

Biographical/Historical Note: Portrait painter. Among her subjects were Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and Queens Borough President James M. Lundy. She was the daughter of Arthur Hatt, an artist who studied with John Singer Sargent. She studied at the Pratt Institute and the National Academy of Design. Married name Mabel Hatt Haagens (Mrs. David Haagens).

The donor, Don Haagen, is the son of Mabel Hatt Haagen.
