Collection Summary: A majority of the collection consists of video recordings on VHS and Beta containing raw footage and finished documentaries produced by Linda Freeman on prominent artists such as Bettye and Alison Saar, Red Grooms, Romare Bearden, Robert Colescott, Elizabeth Catlett, Emma Amos, Howardena Pindell, Horace Pippin, Jackie Winsor, Jennifer Bartlett, Benny Andrews, Richard Mayhew, Jacob Lawrence, Chuck Close, Faith Ringgold, Jimmy Ernst and Max Ernst among others. The films include studio visits and interviews with the artists. Also included are artists' releases, photographs of artists, transcripts, and artists' files relating to the films.

Biographical/Historical Note: Linda Freeman is a multimedia artist and filmmaker in New York, New York. Freeman manages L and S Video (established 1987), a company that creates, produces, and distributes documentaries about American Artists.
