Collection Summary: Writings by Barrett on painter and printmaker Herman Rose; subject files; correspondence, photographs and negatives, printed material and exhibition announcements. Writings by Barrett on Rose are also compiled as Volumes X through XV of "Herman Rose: A Portrait," containing notes, letters, and photographs. Also related to Rose are correspondence, 1983-1986 and undated; clippings; and exhibition announcements, 1966-2006, including a review of Rose's 1966 exhibition at the University of Virginia, which mentions a portrait of Barrett.
Also included are correspondence, 1962-2006 with Rani Carson, Mark Clarke, Nicolas Evans-Cato, Mary Frank, Miriam Kley, and Morgan Taylor, as well as copies of corresponding outgoing letters from Barrett; subject files on Mark Clarke and Jean Marvell; and photographs and negatives of works of art, the Herman Rose exhibit at the Fischbach Gallery, Mary Frank, Tom Wesselman, Mark Clarke and Morgan Taylor.
