Collection Summary: A 13-page funeral address written by McDonald, to be read at his death; a diary, 1850-1858, containing an account of his trip from Illinois to California, financial accounts, and miscellaneous notes; and an undated notebook with notes, mathematical equations, and copies of McDonald's letters to T.M. Johnson, president of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light, Lockport, Illinois.

Lent for microfilming 1978 by Dr. Esther Lloyd-Jones, relationship to Jonathan S. McDonald is not known.
