Biographical/Historical Note: Sargent was a portrait painter; London, England; Hunter a patron. Sargent was born in Florence and educated in Europe. He portrayed members of high society and aristocracy and became one of the most sought after portraitists of his day.

Donated 1964 by Miss Elizabeth Williamson, daughter of Mrs. Charles Hunter.
