Letters and postcards to Hudson de Léon are from family and friends and date from the 1940s to the 1970s. Photographs are of Hudson de Léon in Minnesota, Mexico, and Florida. Printed material includes travel brochures, clippings, one commercial design manual, and a 1950 informational booklet for Art Instruction, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minn.
Artwork is by Hudson de Léon and includes sketchbooks and loose sketches of animals, people, and cityscapes, most dating from the 1940s and 50s. Pen and ink illustrations on board with mythological themes are also present as well as designs for theater and costumes
Biographical/Historical Note: Jerry Hudson de Léon (circa 1905 -1980) was an illustrator and teacher in Minneapolis, Minn.
Donated 2012 by Robert Lewis Croft, Jr. a close friend of Jerry Hudson de Léon.
