Collection Summary: An interview of Manuel Neri conducted 2008 May 6, by art historian Lynn Robert Matteson, for the Archives of American Art, at the artist's home and studio, in Benecia, Calif.
Biographical/Historical Note: Manuel Neri (1930- ) is a sculptor and educator living and working in Benecia, Calif. Neri taught at the California School of Fine Arts from 1959-1965 and at the University of California, Davis from 1965-1999. Neri is best known for his life size figurative sculptures.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
