Biographical/Historical Note: Helene Winer (1946- ) is an art dealer in New York, N.Y., who directed Artists Space before founding Metro Pictures Gallery with Janelle Reiring. Johanna Burton is the Director for graduate program in curatorial studies at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
