Biographical/Historical Note: Gladys Nilsson (1940- ) is a painter and founding member of Chicago Hairy Who, who lives and works in Chicago, Ill. Nilsson teaches at the Art Institute of Chicago and is best known for her vibrant watercolors.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
