Rothschild furniture, 1945
Physical Details: Photographic print : 1 item : b&w ; 12 x 18 cm.
Creator: Edward E. Adams, photographer
Description: Photograph shows Rothschild furniture recovered during World War II at Buxheim Monastery. Accompanied by a sheet formerly affixed to verso of photograph.
Item is inscribed on verso (handwritten): This is one of many rooms full of antique furniture taken from the Rothschild home in Paris. It is predominantly 18th century French. Quite a lot of painted and gilded Louis XV provincial stuff, a few good Renaissance pieces and quite a lot of elaborate inlay pieces. Valuable I suppose but a little quirky.
Accompanying material is inscribed (typewritten): Nazi looted art repository.
Identification on accompanying material (stamped): Please credit photo to Edward E. Adams.
