Description: Photograph of Parker S. Perkins in his studio.
Identification on verso reads (handwritten): Anno Domini 1884; This is the interior of the studio of Parker S. Perkins Esq. in the home of his grandfather, Dr. David Parker (an eminent and the leading physician of Salem, Mass. He was distinguished looking with a very kindly face and a perfect type of a fine country doctor.); The portrait on the wall is of Dr. Theodore Edson of Lowell, Mass. rector of St. Ann's Church for many years. He baptized the artist Whistler, married Dr. Parker when he took a second wife- named also Mr. Perkin's mother and baptized him when a baby; Mr. Perkins was born in 1858 and was about 2 years old when this photo was made.
An accompanying newspaper article "Portrait of an Artist", Sunday Herald, Jan. 24\43, was donated with the photograph.
