Maria Oakey Dewing letter to Mr. Perry, not after 1881

Physical Details: Letter : 1 folded sheet : handwritten ; 21 x 26 cm., folded to 21 x 13 cm.

Sender: M. O. (Maria Oakey) Dewing (1855-1927)

Description: Date range based on the fact that Dewing signs with her maiden name (she and Thomas Dewing were married in 1881).
Dewing writes to a Mr. Perry (possibly Oliver Hazard Perry) to discuss her designs for decorative andirons which he has commissioned. She includes sketches of potential designs numbered 1 through 4: a mother and child, a "fire worshipper [sic]", a Japanese woman with a fan; and a cupid holding bellows.
