Henry Ossawa Tanner's Exposition Universelle award medal, 1900

Physical Details: Medal : 1 item ; 07 cm. (diameter).

Creator: Jules-Clément Chaplain (1839-1909), artist

Description: Medal designed by Jules-Clément Chaplain.
One side features a design of a woman's head in profile. Behind her head is a tree, one branch of which grows along the side of her head in the style of a laurel wreath. In relief around the edge are the words "Republique Francaise."
The other side of the medal features a design of a man holding a torch being carried on the shoulder of an angel. Around the edge are the words "Exposition Universelle Internationale" and "H.O. Tanner."
