Description: Taken at the celebration of the tercentenary of the landing of Capt. John Smith, on Monhegan in 1914. Bellows participated in the Monhegan Cornet Band, and along with other artists, contributed paintings to be on exhibit for this event. The men are standing in front of the Monhegan Schoolhouse.
Photographed in the band are, from left to right, (back row) Ellsworth Wallace, Earl Field, Linwood Davis, Charles Field, Walter Brackett, George Smith, Eddie Brackett, Dexter Richards, Dick Stanley, (front row) George Bellows, Ulysses "UTE" Wallace, the band's founder, Will Stanley, George Green, and Otis Thompson.
Judge Charles Jenney, Monhegan historian, is in the background.
Purchased 2006 from Maine Antiques via Janine Hansen, who purchased the photograph at a church rummage sale. The photograph was donated to the church by a descendant of Linwood Davis.
