Description: Francis Davis Millet recounts his experiences as Assistant Contract Surgeon attached to the U.S. Army, stationed in the 60th Massachusetts Volunteers at Camp Burnside, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Diary consists of four small booklets, each labeled by Millet with "Civil War diary" and a volume number. The dates of each booklet are: May 12 to May 25, 1864; May 29 to Jul. 11, 1864; Oct. 20 to Nov. 29, 1864; and Apr. 9 to May 30, 1865.
