The roots and ground beneath the tree are labeled (left to right): Barnett Aden; Eugen Weisz; Richard Lahey; Sculpture Studio; Robert Richmans; W.P.A.; Franz Bader; Institute of Contemporary Arts; C. Law Watkins; Workshop Center of the Arts; Berkowitzes; Duncan & Marjorie Phillips.
The branches are labeled (counterclockwise): American University; Purity; National Gallery; Smithsonian, National Collection of Fine Arts; Hirshhorn [on the sun]; V.I.P.'s; Bader; Sponsors; Pan American Union; Artists; European passion; Bookatz's Gallery; Studio Gallery; Artists; Washington Gallery of Modern Art; Op & Pop; Washington Color School; Corcoran.
