Identification on verso (handwritten): "Banquet given to H. Siddons Mowbray by his friends at Sieghortner Hotel Lafayette Place N.Y. on Saturday evening, May 26, 1888; this photo shows from left to right: H. Siddon Mowbray, R. Cleveland Coxe, Thomas B. Clarke (speaking), Mr. Kingsley, Mr. Isham, Mr. J. Alden Weir, W.A. Coffin, Augustus St. Gaudens, Thomas W. Dewing, Kenyon Cox (emerging from under the table); Others present were Stanford White, S. V. Allen, Valentine Blacque, H.O. Walker, [name illegible], W.M. Chase, R.W. Van Boskerck, W. A Coffin, J.C. Beckwith, Louis Webb, [name illegible] Kingsley, Wells, Walton, Rice, and Denman."

Provenance unknown. Annotation on verso possibly in the hand of Robert McIntyre, nephew of William Macbeth and proprieter of the Macbeth Gallery. It is possible that this photograph was originally part of the Macbeth Gallery records.
