Collection Summary: Eight trial photographs of illustrations by Glackens for the book, "Remember the Maine," by Gregory Mason (New York: H. Holt & Co., 1939); and a photocopy of a letter, Dec. 2, 1938, from Glacken's son, Ira, to Ruth Mason, Gregory's wife and agent, discussing the photographs and William's work as a wartime newspaper and magazine illustrator. Also included is a trial photograph of the battleship.
Biographical/Historical Note: Painter, illustrator; New York, N.Y. Born in Philadelphia, PA. Studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and in Europe.
Donated by Eliot F. Bartlett, who is the son of Ruth Mason, Gregory Mason's wife, 1973.
