Collection Summary: Correspondence, 1943-1958; sketches; a scrapbook, 1933-1959; printed material; photographs; certificates and awards; and miscellany. Printed material includes newspaper clippings and magazine articles about Martino, exhibition catalogs and announcements regarding Martino and his family including Nina F., Eva, Giovanni, Babette and Martino's brothers Frank, Antonio, Albert, Ernest, William and Edmond. Photographs are of Martino and his family and reproductions of works of art.

Biographical/Historical Note: Painter; Blue Bell, Penn.; b. 1908; d. 1998. Giovanni Martino was known for his landscapes, particularly scenes of Manayunk. He studied at the Spring Garden Institute, the Graphic Sketch Club and LaFrance Art Institute and served a two-year apprenticeship in commercial art under W. P. Schoonmaker. He and his six brothers formed the Martino Commercial Art Studio, where Giovanni worked as a graphic artist.

Donated 2005 by Eva, Nina and Babette Martino, Giovanni Martino's daughters.
