Collection Summary: Board of Trustees meeting minutes, 1974-1987; printed material; photographs and slides; and audio-visual material. Photographs and slides are of the Fiberworks studio, workshops, events, including the Symposium of Contemporary Textile Art, 1978, works of art, and artists Gyöngy Laky, Sheila OHara, Trude Guermonprez, Laurie Kovak, Sheila Hicks, Tina Martin, Sylvia Seventy, David Ireland, Jan Janeiro, Weldon Smith, Maureen OHara, Nance O'Banion, Katherine Westphal, and others. Printed material includes brochures, exhibition announcements, statements of purpose, newsletters, and a copy of "Fiberfinder," a guide to Bay Area sources (Berkeley, Calif.: Fiberworks, 1977), by Nance OBanion and Cindy Sägen. Audio reordings include 34 cassette tapes of interviews, lectures, panel discussions, symposia, and Fiberworks events featuring speakers Daniel Graffin, Chere Mah, Ferne Jacobs, Ina Kozel, Neda Al-Hilali, Katherine Westphal, Nance O'Banion, Mildred Constantine, Joanne Brandford, Gyöngy Laky, Sylvia Seventy, and others. U-matic video recording is "Fiberworks: Symposium on Contemporary Textile Art 1978".

Biographical/Historical Note: Fiberworks (1973-1987) was a textile art center in Berkeley, Calif.

Donated 2006 by Gyongy Laky, founder of Fiberworks.
