Collection Summary: Biographical documents, including Peri's birth certificate, divorce decree, death certificate and passports; files on exhibitions containing letters, loan agreements, receipts, press releases, catalogs, etc.; letters and postcards from friends, galleries, museums, and others; printed material, including a scrapabook of clippings compiled by Peri and other clippings compiled by the executors of her estate; magazine articles, and exhibition announcements; and photographs of Peri, friends, and works of art and exhibition installations.
Biographical/Historical Note: Fiber artist; Philadelphia, Pa. Peri was born in 1897 in Bangor, Me. She moved to New York City in her twenties, and worked as a designer. She began exhibiting her fabric collages in the 1930s. In the 1950s she moved to Philadelphia, and opened a store in New Hope featuring her wall hangings, collages, and other household items. Peri died in 1966.
Donated 2001 by Peri's estate via Elizabeth Bullock, executor. Dr. Judith Stein, curator of the estate, helped assemble the material.
