Biographical/Historical Note: Historical painter; Germany and Philadelphia, Pa. Born in Germany and moved to Pennsylvania as a child. Went back to study in Germany from 1840-1859. Most noted for his painting, "Washington Crossing the Delaware."

Donated 1955-1962 by Charles E. Feinberg, an active donor and friend of AAA.
