Collection Summary: REELS 83-85: 15 diaries, 1885-1894 and 1901-1908, containing brief entries about the weather, appointments, and casual references to daily activities; one v. of letters from Europe, 1866-1867, written as a journal and mailed to his parents weekly, 267 pp; and a chapter on Boit from The Boit Family and Their Descendents (1915) by Robert Apthorp Boit.
REEL 2395: A guest book, 1901-1914, from Cerintoio, Boit's home in Italy, containing signatures, notes and sketches by guests, and yearly entries by Boit; and three incomplete drafts of Boit's unpublished book, "How I Came to Paint."

The material on reels 83-85 were lent for microfilming 1971 by Boit's son, Edward; he subsequently donated the diaries in 1981 with additional material filmed on reel 2395.
