The Jervis McEntee Diaries - July 31, 1888

Diary Entry:

Tuesday, July 31, 1888 A hot south wind has blown all day. If John and his party are traveling today I am afraid it will be very uncomfortable. These hot day winds are depressing to me. If I had not been busy all day making my final arrangements to leave tomorrow I should have felt despondent I fear. It is very quiet here. It happened to occur to me today that there is hardly a house in this town where I feel at liberty to go informally. This is perhaps an extreme statement but I feel how entirely dependent I am upon my own family for companionship and my own family now means Sara.
