Monday, Jan 16, 1888 Cold again. I walked down town to mail Lucys letter and to see if there were any word from Mary but there was none. The streets and sidewalks were ice and a cutting wind came from the North. Sara and I went over to the Toboggan slide about 4 oclock. It was an ideal Winter afternoon. I rode down twice the last time Sara & I with Winnie Crispell and two other ladies on his steel shod toboggan. We went like lightning and near the end of the chute up on the farm and upset us in a heap bruising one of the ladies slightly. It was our dinner time and we came home. Sara is making her toboggan suit. I am troubled that we do not hear about Calvert and will go down tomorrow. The mercury is now 9 oclock at zero and still the tobogganers are enjoying the sport and we can hear them shout from the back porch.
