Saturday, Jan 7, 1888 I wrote to Booth a little note this morning telling him how much the ladies had enjoyed the episode of the visit to his dressing room. It is still dark and damp and the streets covered with ice. I am going home and dont know when I will return. There seems little use in staying here. Calvert is so ill this morning Mary has sent for the doctor. I hope he is not going to have a fever which I fear. I painted a little Water Color for Stedmans private copy of his Victorian Poets, yesterday. A winter looking out of the dining room window over to my little house. Came home by the noon train. Went to work on the screen across the hall at the foot of the back stairs but did not accomplish much, as it soon grew dark.
