The Jervis McEntee Diaries - January 31, 1882

Diary Entry:

Tuesday, Jan 31, 1882 A wild snow storm has been raging all day increasing in violence until tonight the wind is blowing hard the snow falling as fast as it can. A fearful fire happened this morning burning up the Old World building and many people have perished in the flames. I dined with Fred Sawyer and his wife but Fred had to go out after dinner. Had a nice long letter from Lucy giving me an account of a winter ride up to Star Valley. I wrote to her this afternoon. Painted a little picture of the winter twilight I saw coming down from Dobbs Ferry Sunday evening but it is not very successful. I hope to improve it when I paint on it again. The Charity ball occurs tonight.
