Saturday, Sept 17, 1881 I took Jamie up to Tivoli to his school by the 10.40 train. Dr Clarke was at the station and he drove me up to the school while Jamie walked with some of the boys. I apologized for keeping him beyond the opening of the school and he was mollified although I know it would have been to Jamies advantage to be there on the opening day. I paid him $168 and he showed me about the school which impressed me pleasantly and then he drove me down to the station where I took the Martin home. It was a lovely day and I enjoyed the sail. A letter from Booth says he cannot come on Saturday as he had promised to go to Long Branch to see his mother, but will come up next Saturday if I am at home. A letter from Julia Wilkinson telling me Mary is there and wanting me to come there and go from there to Boston but I replied that I could not. Wrote to Kate Field in answer to a note on Cooperative Dress affairs sent to me in July but which was not forwarded to Fort Halleck.
