The Jervis McEntee Diaries - January 10, 1881

Diary Entry:

Monday, Jan 10, 1881 Went to Pokeepsie by 11 oclock train. It was raining and the streets were in as bad a condition as I have ever seen them. Not feeling happy I took a seat in the drawing room car to be alone. The ride up was very interesting for the variety of wintry effects. Up in the Highland the trees were covered with ice. The ride and the interest in the landscape were a real refreshment. Major Wilkinson met me at the station and we went directly to the house.
