The Jervis McEntee Diaries - December 22, 1879

Diary Entry:

It snowed last night and was still snowing when I went over to breakfast, but soon cleared and the city is in a state of mud and slush. I have painted all day dark as it was on my Kaatskill brook picture. Carried the box for Mrs Weir up to Adams Express and went to see about my shoes which were not done. Attended the Council meeting and presided as Mr. Huntington was not there. Marion and I go home tomorrow by 11 o'clock train for Christmas. I am very anxious and troubled having so much money to pay and see no prospect of selling my pictures. After the holidays perhaps people will begin to think of pictures. Sent my letter to Mrs. Weir but ordered the box to be delivered Friday.
