The Jervis McEntee Diaries - September 13, 1878

Diary Entry:

We had our supper of pickerel and found them excellent and we breakfasted on them this morning. It was very warm last night and the flies and mosquitos very troublesome. Church is fairly poisoned with them and his lame hand is swollen to twice its usual size. I gave him some tar soap which took the soreness out of my bites. The mists are still hanging about and occasionally there is slight rain. We wait in patience hoping it will clear by and by. The men talk of their hunting and logging adventures, clothes and boots are being dried before the fire and bread is baking.
