We had showers yesterday and this morning the wind was from the north and a coolness like October with a grey brooding sky has marked the day and closed the heated term. Sara Collins called. Maurices friend Mr. Fausher came and left again this evening. I have been at work all day on the lattice screen. This has been what I call a poetic day. Yesterday I wrote a short apologetic note to W. H. Vanderbilt having learned from Mr. Cross that she was not related to him as I had been told. Also wrote to Wilmurt to get my pictures for St. Louis, to Mr. Harris Sec. of the St. Louis exhibition sending titles & prices of pictures, to Mrs. Harris, Dr. McArady's daughter.
