The Jervis McEntee Diaries - December 19, 1876

Diary Entry:

Booth sat for me today and gave me his check for $2000 anticipating the payment of the character pictures and relieving me of a world of anxiety regarding obligations coming due. He is a most generous and sympathetic fellow and I am so glad he is pleased with the pictures I am doing. Attended the sale of John Taylor Johnstons pictures at Chickering Hall. The total of the evenings sale was $146,000. My little picture which he bought for $150 he sold for $400. The weather is very cold.
