A rainy dismal day. Sara went home and I feel very forlorn. Mrs. Yewells brother called and while he was here Sam Coy Kendall called. He liked my little picture which I have been painting and asked the price. I offered it to him for $250. He also asked the price of the "Sea from Shore" which I told him I would let him have for $800. Shortly after he went Mr. Hoe called. He was very genial and said many encouraging things. I think he thinks very highly of my work. He still wants my picture which I rather urged him to take for $1000. He said he would send a man here who he thought would buy it. I half fancy he means to take it but do not want to delude myself. It would be an immense relief if he would take it. Called at Wilsons and at Platts. Received a letter from Gertrude and wrote to her.
