The Jervis McEntee Diaries - July 30, 1876

Diary Entry:

We returned yesterday from a weeks camping at the Head of the Rondout. The party consisted of John McEntee & wife, Fred Norton & wife, Gertrude & I, Julia Dillon, Sara, Maurice, Downing & Marian and our cook Kipp. Maurice, John, Kipp and I went in on Monday & established the camp and the rest of the party came in Tuesday with the exception of Marian & Downing who came in on Wednesday arriving there about 10 o'clock at night. The weather was cool and delightful and we all enjoyed it exceedingly. Received a very friendly letter from Mr. Knoedler last week. The Mohawk Garner's Yacht upset last week drowning him and his wife and two or three others. He was Mrs. Jas. Lorimer Graham's brother. We find on our return a letter from Mrs. Bachelder fixing the time for our visit for Aug 9 to stay two weeks at least. Alice and Mr. Knight arrived last night.
